For those who have never spent much time on the eastern part of Long Island, it is easy to be taken in by the perception that it is an area populated solely on the weekends and only by New York City elite. This could not be further from the truth, and the reputation of the area that includes “The Hamptons” is much different in reality.
While the East End does have its fair share of pricey weekend homes, a great deal of Suffolk County is composed a combination of farmland interspersed among small communities. There are certainly areas that have experienced a lot of development recently, but the fact remains that there is so much natural space that it is possible for vintners to begin using the area for winemaking purposes.
Of course, the East End is also home to a great deal of maritime activities. Fishing communities still exist throughout Suffolk County, and these communities are often filled with good people who support the efforts of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. It goes without saying that the beach is always a popular destination, as is the beautiful aquarium that holds so much interest to community members and visitors alike.
